NationalPark Plitvice Lakes (Plitvička jezera)
NationalPark Plitvice Lakes is the most famous national park in Croatia.
It is unique park all over Europe and one of the most beautiful places in this area. Plitvice Lakes have been proclaimed a national park since 1949 and since then have invested in its beauty and the preservation of this beautiful nature.
This park is the largest, oldest, most famous and most visited park in Croatia, which visits tourists and visitors from all over the world every year.
With its position, the park is located in Lika area at an altitude of 480-636 m, between the mountains of Mala Kapela and Lička Plješivica, and only the streams begin to flow to the export of the Korana River.
The park itself is the wooded end through which flows through the small streams and streams, which pass through 16 smaller and big lakes and sedge barriers.
Plitvice Lakes are widely known for their unique, beautiful waterfalls that connect lakes to each other.
Within the national park, spacious forest complexes, exceptional natural beauty of lakes and waterfalls, the richness of flora and fauna, and pure mountain air, as such, form a whole which was declared by UNESCO in 1979 as a world heritage site.
More than 3/4 of the park space is covered with forests, predominantly beech and fir trees.
The most famous animal dwellers are bear and wolf, and there are over 140 registered birds in the park.
